The Lions went 2-3 at last weekend’s UTEP Tournament in El Paso, Texas ... Loyola Marymount picked up wins over UC Riverside (4-1) and Binghamton (7-0) ... SR RHP Tiffany Pagano struck out 12 batters for the third time this season, but was on the short-end of a 1-0 loss to Georgetown Sunday to conclude the weekend ... JR OF MiaSarah Cesena is tied for the longest active hit streak in the PCSC, entering the week, at five games ... Cesena, along with JR C/OF Chelsie Tysdall, lead the PCSC with four multi-RBI games ... JR OF Kirsten Slouber has recorded a conference-high nine multi-hit games.
PORTLAND STATE VIKINGS
Portland State lost 8-2 to No. 1 Alabama last Friday in the opening game of the Husky Softball Classic in Seattle, marking the second time in school history the Vikings have faced the No. 1 ranked team in the nation ... Portland State lost 4-0 to then No. 1 UCLA in 2004 ... The Vikings became the first PCSC team to beat a top 25 opponent in 2008, when they knocked off No. 25 Washington 4-2 in eight innings on Sunday ... The 4-2 victory over Washington improved Portland State to 3-0 in extra-inning games this season ... The Vikings have recorded eight errorless games this season, however, they are 1-7 when not recording an error ... FR SS Arielle Wiser had a season-best eight-game hitting streak snapped in Sunday’s win over the Huskies.
SACRAMENTO STATE HORNETS
Sacramento State was one run shy of completing a perfect 5-0 tournament record at the Bronco Stampede over the weekend, but lost on Sunday to Boston College, 2-1 ... Entering the Boston College game on Sunday, Sacramento State had outscored its opponents during tournament play, 35-4, over the team’s first four games ... Seven different Hornets have started all 15 games this season (Sherry Clark - 3B; Jamie Schloredt - C; Izmena Cabrera - LF; Whitney Loomis - 2B; Hilary Johnson - CF; Rachel Miles - DP; Amy Tompkins - SS), and five of those players are batting above .310 ... The Hornets’ 9-5 record matches the team’s best mark after 14 games since the 2005 squad was also 9-5 ... Schloredt and Loomis both have four HRs this season, already just four shy of the Hornets’ NCAA Division I era (1990-pres.) single-season record.

Saint Mary’s went 3-1 last week, sweeping a doubleheader from Youngstown State (6-1 and 6-3) and splitting a twinbill at Cal State Northridge (3-2, 0-8) ... SO C Jenna Smith hit four HRs last week, including three in the doubleheader versus the Penguins ... Her third HR against Youngstown State was a three-run walk-off shot to lift the Gaels to a 6-3 win and a sweep of the twinbill ... Saint Mary’s is 3-0 when tied after six innings this season.
SAN DIEGO TOREROS
The USD Toreros started off with a 5-0 win in game one of a doubleheader against the Eastern Michigan Eagles (2/27) ... San Diego then lost four straight, game two to the Eagles, 10-3, a 2-0 loss to Oregon on Thursday, #4 UCLA defeated the Toreros 10-0 and a 1-0 loss to Eastern Michigan again on Friday ... On Saturday, the Toreros snapped their four-game losing streak with back-to-back wins over St. Peters College (3-2) and Harvard (7-1) improving to 6-12 ... San Diego wrapped up the week with a 5-2 loss to Bakersfield finishing the week 3-5 and an overall record of 6-13 ... USD will travel to the Diamond Devil Classic hosted by Arizona State for five games over three days, beginning Friday with games Pacific (CA) and San Diego State.

JR IF Noelani Ho’opi’i went 7x13 on the weekend with three runs scored, two RBI, a double, and three stolen bases ... SR P Jerrica Castagno pitched seven scoreless innings against Boston College before giving up an unearned run in two innings with the International Tiebreaker ... A single by FR IF Amanda Edmonson advanced the runner to third in the ninth with no outs before a groundball to short by SO OF Breann Netto brought the winning run home ... After starting the season 0-16, SCU is 3-2 in their last five games.
