Junior third baseman Jamee Rauch went 2-for-3 and had a two-out RBI single in the seventh to plate the Vikings’ first run of the game. Freshman shortstop Arielle Wiser followed Rauch with a two-run single to extend her hitting streak to six games.

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Sacramento State junior Kayla Meeks had a two-run single and allowed just one run and six hits over seven innings to lead the Hornets to a 5-1 victory over North Dakota State in the third round of the Bronco Softball Stampede Saturday morning at the Oliver Sports Complex.
With the victory, the Hornets improved to 3-0 at the three-day, five-game tournament, and 8-5 overall this season. The Hornets have won four straight and seven of their last nine games. The team returns later today to face

Teri Ann Caoagan rounded out the scoring by singling home Meeks later in the inning for the team’s fifth run.
Meeks (4-3) picked up her second straight victory, allowing just six hits and striking out four while tossing her sixth complete game of the season. She allowed just one extra-base hit during the entire contest, and over her last two starts, has allowed just eight hits and one run over 12.0 innings.

This afternoon, Hornet pitchers Megan Schaefer and Brittani Clifford combined to allow no runs and just four hits with six strikeouts. After tacking on one more run in the sixth (Amanda Meyer RBI-single), the Hornets blew things open with a four-run seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Cabrera and an RBI-double from Meyer.

Mired in a three-game losing streak, their longest of the season, the Lions jumped out with three runs in the second inning. Sophomore Darcy Pagnini led off with a double and was sacrificed to third. After a walk to junior Megan Ackerman,
UCR came back with a run in the third but it could have been more as senior Tiffany Pagano worked her way out of a bases loaded jam. Two walks and a bunt single loaded the bases with one out, with Kristie Martinez putting the Highlanders on the board. Pagano was able to keep the damage to one run by retiring the next two batters.
Cesena came through again in the fourth, delivering a two-out single that plated sophomore Christine Foley, who had singled earlier in the inning.
Pagano (6-2) was equal parts brilliant and wild, striking out 10 but walking eight. She gave up the one run and only four hits.
